About this practice
About
Chaddock supports children and youth who have experienced severe trauma and who struggle with attachment-related difficulties, along with their families. Its Developmental Trauma and Attachment Program (DTAP) is the core offering, and the organization describes itself as a leader in supporting children and families dealing with issues related to attachment and developmental trauma. Applications are accepted all year long and programs are individualized.
The residential program focuses on helping children restore the ability to form trusting relationships. Children live in one of five cottage settings, where they work with therapists, counselors and staff to overcome severe behavioral challenges resulting from traumatic pasts. The stated goal is to give parents and children the tools they need to build cohesive and loving relationships.
An In-Home Intensive Program serves families parenting children with attachment and complex trauma who have struggled to find effective, specialized services in their own communities or who have seen limited progress with traditional therapies. The program is described as helping families get on the right path, providing tools to foster stronger parent-child relationships, build parenting confidence and restore peace at home.
Chaddock also offers a Family Coaching program for married parents, step-parents, single parents and foster parents. Family Coaches help each family form an individualized plan, with education and support intended to improve the parent-child relationship, modify existing behaviors and bring harmony back to the home. Family Coaching is offered in packages.
In addition to clinical programming, Chaddock operates accredited special education schools at two locations. The main school location serves children living on the Chaddock campus as well as youth from the surrounding area who have not experienced success in traditional public school settings. Chaddock describes its model as an ecosystem of care in which mental health, education and family support work together. Its stated values are faith, relationships, responsibility, learning and caring, and it has a foundation that accepts financial contributions and volunteer support.
